The Batavia Daily and Livingston County News sports staff present the second annual Fall Sports Awards.
Award winners were determined based on the opinions of the Batavia Daily News and Livingston County News sports staffs, along with the fan vote that was conducted over the past several days. Individual statistics and achievement, along with team success and the result of the fan vote were considered when making tough decisions, of which there were plenty.
Offensive Player of the Year: Ja’Vin McFollins – Batavia senior quarterback
Runner-up: Noah Currier – Oakfield-Alabama senior running back
Winner of the fan vote: Noah Currier – Oakfield-Alabama senior running back
McFollins finished the season 106-of-152 passing for 1,947 yards and 22 passing touchdowns, while also contributing 272 rushing yards and seven scores for the champion Blue Devils.
Defensive Player of the Year: Case Hill – Attica junior linebacker
Runner-up: Garrett Schmidt – Batavia senior linebacker
Winner of the fan vote: Garrett Schmidt – Batavia senior linebacker
Hill finished the season with 117 tackles, six came for a loss, added four sacks, intercepted a pass and recorded a 68-yard defensive touchdown for the champion Blue Devils.
Coach of the Year: Jeff Cusmano — Attica Blue Devils head coach
Runner-up: Brandon Ricci – Pembroke Dragons head coach
Winner of the fan vote: Brennan Briggs – Batavia Blue Devils head coach
Cusmano helped lead Attica to its first Section V Football championship in program history.
Golden Ball: Simon Lamparelli – Attica senior attacker
Runner-Up: Lee Hartke – Avon senior attacker
Winner of the fan vote: Lee Hartke – Avon senior attacker
Lamparelli finished the season with 44 goals and four assists while setting a new program record for goals scored in a career.
Lockdown Defender: Brady O’Keefe – Livonia sophomore defender
Runner-Up: Braedyn Chambry – Byron-Bergen senior defender
Winner of the fan vote: Braedyn Chambry – Byron-Bergen senior defender
O’Keefe was the top defender for the sectional champion Bulldogs.
Protector of the Pipes: Christopher Kashorek – Avon senior goalkeeper
Runner-Up: Peter Tonkery – Livonia senior goalkeeper
Winner of the fan vote: Peter Tonkery – Livonia senior goalkeeper
Kashorek stopped 60 of 63 shots this season while helping lead the Braves to a Section V Class C1 title for the first time in program history.
Coach of the Year: Tony Patti – Avon head coach
Runner-Up: Joe Connolly – Mt. Morris head coach
Winner of the fan vote: Ray Maxwell – Livonia head coach
Patti helped guide the Braves to a sectional championship and the state final four for the first time in program history.
Golden Ball: Ella Yartym – Bath-Haverling junior attacker
Runner-Up: Mia Gray – Byron-Bergen ninth-grade attacker
Winner of the fan vote: Mia Gray – Byron-Bergen freshman attacker
Yartym finished the season with 40 goals and 33 assists while leading Bath-Haverling to the Class B state final.
Lockdown defender: Grace Braselton – Wheatland-Chili senior defender
Runner-Up: Morgan Wolcott – Geneseo senior defender
Winner of the fan vote: Kaylin Fox – Keshequa junior defender
Braselton moved from midfield to defense early in the season and helped the Wildcats limit opponents to just eight goals, two of which came before Braselton moved to defense.
Protector of the Pipes: Madison Wyskiel – Caledonia-Mumford junior goalkeeper
Runner-Up: Layne Walker – Holley junior goalkeeper
Winner of the fan vote: Madison Wyskiel Cal-Mum junior goalkeeper
Wyskiel finished the season with 145 saves on 158 shots, including six shutouts.
Coach of the Year: Patrice Forrester – Keshequa head coach
Runner-Up: Wayne Hill – Byron-Bergen head coach
Winner of the fan vote: Wayne Hill – Byron-Bergen head coach
Forrester helped lead the Indians to the Class D1 championship.
Top Hitter: Karlee Zinkievich – Pavilion senior hitter
Runner-Up: Trinity Scott – Letchworth junior hitter
Winner of the fan vote: Allie Ingles – Le Roy senior hitter
Zinkievich finished the season with 214 kills and 27 assists, helping lead Pavilion to the Class D2 title.
Top Helper: Morgan Brace – Letchworth senior setter
Runner-Up: Maggie Monachino – Notre Dame senior setter
Winner of the fan vote: Maggie Monachino – Notre Dame senior setter
Brace finished the season with 425 assists, helping guide Letchworth to the sectional final.
Coach of the Year: Sue Staba – Le Roy head coach
Runner-Up: Carolyn Babcock – Notre Dame head coach
Winner of the fan vote: Sue Stava – Le Roy head coach
Staba helped lead the Oatkan Knights to the Class C2 championship.
Silver Shoe (boys): Connor Domoy — Oakfield-Alabama/Elba junior runner
Runner-Up: Nathan Canale – Batavia senior runner
Winner of the fan vote: Lincoln McGrath – Byron-Bergen junior runner
Domoy won the Class D championship with a winning tim of 15:57.1, the lowest time of any GLOW region runner at the sectional championships.
Silver Shoe (girls): Campbell Riley – Batavia sophomore runner
Runner-Up: Charlotte Blake – Le Roy senior runner
Winner of the fan vote: Charlotte Blake – Le Roy senior runner
Riley placed third at the Class B championships, finishing with a time of 19:56.2, the lowest time of any GLOW region female competitor at the sectional championships.
Coach of the Year: Lynn Auble – Dansville head coach
Runner-Up: Dave Bateman – Byron-Bergen head coach
Winner of the fan vote: Pete Beuler – Oakfield-Alabama head coach
Auble helped guide the Mustangs girls’ squad to the Section V Class C championship.
Runner-Up: Le Roy Oatkan Knights

The Braves won the Section V Class D championship.
