BATAVIA — With construction started at the future home of Starbucks and a Jersey Mike’s Subs in the former Kmart parking lot at Park and Lewiston roads, those tenants and a third tenant should be able to move in in a few months, the property owner says.
Two buildings will be built. The one under construction is 6,752 square feet, in the south part of the lot. It will be a multi-tenant building, with space for a restaurant and coffee shop, and will also have a drive-thru. The other is a 4,000-square-foot structure on the northwest corner of the parking lot. It will house a single restaurant with a drive-thru.
“The construction is underway on the first outparcel and we’re very excited,” said Eric Recoon, vice president, development and leasing for Benderson Development. “The roughly 7,000-square-foot building, which will house Starbucks, Tropical Smoothie and Jersey Mike’s, along with one other tenant, is underway. We’ll be working right through the winter and hope to turn over spaces to tenant in late spring. Opening should start to occur sometime late summer.
Recoon said there is a proposed lease with the third tenant, but the tenant has not yet signed.
The other structure, a 4,000 square foot building is expected to get started sometime in 2023, Recoon said.
“(There are) no signed deals at this point,” Recoon said regarding the second building. “Once executed, I can share names.”
Jersey Mike’s is a sub shop chain which began in 1956 as Mike’s Subs, according to the franchise’s website. Its locations include Amherst, Rochester and Greece.
