BATAVIA — There is still room for volunteers who want to give an hour of their time to be Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign bell ringers, Capt. Bradley Moore of the Salvation Army in Batavia says.
For this year’s campaign, Moore said, Batavia’s goal is $70,000 and there is about $20,000 needed to meet the goal.
“We will only be out with the kettles until Saturday at noon. The campaign itself doesn’t fully close until Jan. 1. There are still countertop kettles,” he said. “They’re unmanned at small businesses and the like in the county that have agreed to be host sites for countertop kettles. Those will still be around until the New Year.”
Moore said The Salvation Army has gaps in the schedule for bell ringers. If people are willing to give an hour of their time to ring a bell, they can call Moore at (585) 536-0032. There are more openings for a bell ringer at Walmart in Batavia than at Tops, he said.
